What do you do at WMS?

Supervise crews UG to perform chemical applications, secondary support etc. As WMS appointed trainer/assessor, conduct training/assessing and deliver WMS chemical awareness training for clients.

What is your favourite way to spend your down time?

Fishing or spear fishing and spending time with my wife and kids.

How does working at Wilsons fit in around your life outside of work?

Sometimes it can impact on lifestyle, flexibility is sometimes an option, it can be give and take.

How has WMS helped with your career development?

Allowed me to gain experience on different mine sites across QLD. Allowed me the opportunity to complete external courses like QLD Mining Supervisor Course S1, S2, S3 and Certificate IV in Training and Assessing, which has enabled me to supervise the crew and become a trainer/assessor.

What is your proudest achievement since starting work with WMS?

Work Achievements – Conduct difficult chemical applications at various sites and both in development and longwall scenarios. Being included in advancement of technology and included in trials of new application methods. Home Achievements – become a husband and father to my wife and 3 kids.

What has been the best part about working at WMS?

Variety of work.

What are the challenges?

Juggling flexibility with home life. Dealing with a competitive job market.

What do you see as the best thing happening at WMS on the horizon?

Decisions made by management which make Wilson Mining Services more attractive to future employees and to assist in retaining experienced workers. So we can work together and grow our business.
